Antwone Fisher announced as the keynote speaker for the 9th Annual Cherish the Child Symposium of Harford County

The Cherish the Child Symposium planning committee is pleased to announce that Antwone Fisher, author, screenwriter, director, and film producer will be headlining the 9th Annual Cherish the Child Symposium, Harford County’s Annual Child Protection Awareness Event on April 26, 2013.

Born in prison to a teenage mother, Antwone Fisher suffered 12 years of abuse at the hands of his foster family before going on to serve his country in the US Navy for 11 years. His story was chronicled in the feature film Antwone Fisher, starring and directed by Denzel Washington, based on his New York Times bestselling memoir, Finding Fish. His powerful personal account continues to inspire audiences.

Antwone’s example and life now is a demonstration that there really is life after many hardships, abuse, and obstacles. His speech not only tells his story, but also discusses topics such as resiliency, overcoming early childhood trauma and not allowing your past to dictate your life's future.
