Aberdeen police are investigating the circumstances that led to the shooting death of a pit bull Sunday night.
Police responded to the unit block of Liberty Street around 8:30 p.m. Sunday for the report of a dog being shot, according to a statement from Aberdeen police.
Residents reportedly heard the dog barking before hearing a single gunshot. When they ran outside, the residents found nobody in the surrounding area.
The dog was found dead with a gunshot wound to the head.
