Eagles Girls Host City For Region Title Game

The Aberdeen girls basketball team hosts City College Friday night in Aberdeen.

Aberdeen goes for its third straight girls basketball region title Friday night.

The Eagles host City College at 6 p.m. at Aberdeen High School.

Top seed Aberdeen (21-1) is seeking its third straight trip to the state title game after winning the school's first championship last March.

No. 2 seed City (21-2) used a nine-point win against Milford Mill to reach the region final.

Aberdeen toppled its two early-round opponents by a combined 66 points to reach Friday's Class 3A North title contest.

Friday's winner advances to face either Damascus (20-2) or South Hagerstown (19-2)—who meet in the Class 3A West region final at 7 p.m. Friday—in a state semifinal at 7 p.m. on March 7 at UMBC's RAC Arena.

River Hill, which Aberdeen defeated for last year's state title, is still in the running this year and plays for the Class 3A East crown Friday night.
