Aberdeen goes for its third straight girls basketball region title Friday night.
The Eagles host City College at 6 p.m. at Aberdeen High School.
Top seed Aberdeen (21-1) is seeking its third straight trip to the state title game after winning the school's first championship last March.
No. 2 seed City (21-2) used a nine-point win against Milford Mill to reach the region final.
Aberdeen toppled its two early-round opponents by a combined 66 points to reach Friday's Class 3A North title contest.
Friday's winner advances to face either Damascus (20-2) or South Hagerstown (19-2)—who meet in the Class 3A West region final at 7 p.m. Friday—in a state semifinal at 7 p.m. on March 7 at UMBC's RAC Arena.
River Hill, which Aberdeen defeated for last year's state title, is still in the running this year and plays for the Class 3A East crown Friday night.
