UPDATE: 1 Dead In Bush Chapel Road Crash

The fatal crash happened late Monday night in Aberdeen.

UPDATED (11:50 a.m.)—A Belcamp teen died early Tuesday morning after a crash in Aberdeen late Monday night.

According to a release from the Harford County Sheriff's Office, Austin D. Remines, 17, of the 1200 block of Person Place in Belcamp, was pronounced deceased at 2:18 a.m. Tuesday at Harford Memorial Hospital.

Around 11:21 p.m., police said, Remines was driving a 2008 Suzuki Forenza when he swerved away from the center line, losing control of his vehicle and crossing into the lane of an oncoming vehicle.

The other car, a 2008 Toyota Yaris, was driven by a 27-year-old man from Aberdeen, police said. He was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured in the crash, according to the release.

Remines, who was wearing a seatbelt, was transported to Harford Memorial Hospital by the Aberdeen Volunteer Fire Company, police said.

The crash was the sixth ending in fatality investigated by the sheriff's office in 2012.

Initial information indicated the crash was a single-vehicle accident.

The accident took place around 11:30 p.m. on Dec. 31 on the 300 block of Bush Chapel Road in Aberdeen, according to Rich Gardiner, spokesman for the Harford County Fire & EMS Association. The driver in the single-vehicle crash was transported to an area hospital "in grave condition," Gardiner said.

I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY HE WASN'T FLOWN TO SHOCK TRAUMA.....I HAVE NOTICED A LOT OF SERIOUS INJURING INCIDENTS IN HARFORD COUNTY AND EITHER THEY ARE TRANSPORTED TO A LOCAL ER OR TAKEN TO A BALTIMORE ER BY AMBO. I THINK THAT'S CRAZY!

I haven't confirmed it yet, but the scanner last night indicated a helicopter called to the scene was cancelled — likely an indication that crews couldn't wait and needed to get the patient to a hospital immediately. I'll try to confirm that information.

Most EMS have criteria to save the life ASAP. In the events of a cardiac arrest you transport you don't wait with CPR in progress a field medic unit can only do so much on scene. Bayview is considered a Trauma Center Level II. There are diffrent levels required for diffrent injuries and cases. Then at times there is also weather, ETA's a lot of factors. Thank God we have so many opitions. God Bless this family at this time of crisis

I love you Austin, one of my best friends. I'm already learning how to go through my day not talking or seeing you. I'll never understand why things happen this way or how God could take someone you love so much. You always put a smile on our faces, you'll be missed dearly. Heaven gained a crazy angel this year.

Very sad event! Please say a prayer for his family, very close friends of mine, as they struggle to accept and deal with his death. We mentally prepare ourselves for the death of our older relatives, but to lose a child is something we could never be prepared for. I love you Tina, Kendall, Gabby and Raegan, more than you will ever know! :'-(
