Steve Salem of the Cal Ripken Sr. Foundation talks about the organization.

The Cal Ripken Sr. Foundation spends a half-million dollars for every new synthetic field they bring to at-risk kids.

In Aberdeen, that's no different.

The non-profit foundation is building a new field near the Boys & Girls Club—just one of the many initiatives the program brings to communities with a population of at-risk kids.

Steve Salem, executive director for the Cal Ripken Sr. Foundation, spoke to the Aberdeen Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday to highlight the mission of the organization, and note some of the things the group is doing in Aberdeen.

I sure hope this happens. I have always wondered why Aberdeen doesn't have a real nice baseball field. I know, I know....what about Ripken stadium and those fields; well I don't know Alot about parks and rec but I'm pretty sure no teams like that play there. I hope the parks and rec teams have access to this new field.
