Downed Lines Cause Power Outages

Portions of the west side of Aberdeen were without power Wednesday afternoon.

Downed power lines were to blame for a power outage for much of the west side of Aberdeen's business district Wednesday afternoon.

Aberdeen police said power lines caused outages in a large block bordered by West Bel Air Avenue, Beards Hill Road, MD Route 22 and Middleton Road.

Patch was at the Panera Bread around 2:15 p.m. Wednesday when the power was out. Around 2:30 p.m., all the power in the restaurant went out, and store management had to turn customers away.

There was no timetable for restoring power, police said.
