Carpenter signed to play football at Towson University, approximately 30 miles southwest of Aberdeen, where the Tigers won their first-ever Colonial Athletic Association title in 2011.
"It’s been one of my dreams since I was seven or eight years old," Carpenter said about playing at the college level.
Carpenter played as a wide receiver and defensive back during his senior year. After only playing six games during his junior year because of a stress fracture in his foot, he had an eye-opening senior season. Carpenter caught 64 passes for 1,112 yards and 14 touchdowns. On the defensive side of the field, he made 148 tackles, caught six interceptions and scored one touchdown.
Carpenter was a second-team All-State selection, first-team UCBAC selection, Most Valuable Player at the UCBAC all-star game and played in the Crab Bowl.
