GIRLS HOOPS: Eagles Win Region Title

Bri Jones dropped 40 points Friday to send Aberdeen to the state semifinals.

Bri Jones dominated again, and Aberdeen is back in the MPSSAA girls basketball final four.

Jones scored 40 points as the No. 1 seed Eagles won the Class 3A North region final, throttling Milford Mill, 84-66, Friday night at Aberdeen High School.

Aberdeen (24-1) will play Frederick (19-4) at 9 p.m. on March 8 at UMBC's RAC Arena.

With a win, the Eagles will be back in the state championship game—scheduled for 8 p.m on March 10 at UMBC. River Hill and Westlake meet in the other state semifinal.

Aberdeen finished as state runners up in 2011.

Eagles senior Nia Alleyne told Explore Harford: "It's been our goal to go back. Now it's time to celebrate a little, but more so to focus on the end, finishing the season with the win that we want."
