Municipal League Asks Legislators to Restore Highway Revenue

The Maryland Municipal League created a 60-second public service announcement, stating that Gov. Martin O'Malley and state legislators cannot continue to slash highway user revenue.

The Maryland Municipal League, an association for the state's towns and cities, produced a video to inform Maryland constituents how cuts in highway user revenues affect transportation and infrastructure operations.

Gov. Martin O'Malley's proposed budget calls for $6.5 million to be shared among 157 municipalities and two special taxing districts for transportation projects. In fiscal year 2008, the last time highway user revenues were fully funded, municipalities shared $45 million, according to the Cumberland Times-News.
