The Maryland Municipal League wants legislators to balance the state's budget without making deep cuts to highway user revenue.

The Maryland Municipal League, an association for the state's towns and cities, produced a video to inform Maryland constituents how cuts in highway user revenues affect transportation and infrastructure operations.

Gov. Martin O'Malley's proposed budget calls for $6.5 million to be shared among 157 municipalities and two special taxing districts for transportation projects. In fiscal year 2008, the last time highway user revenues were fully funded, municipalities shared $45 million, according to the Cumberland Times-News.

Do you think local roads and highways receive enough funding from the state? Tell us in the comments.
