Billers? Please. Wouldn't let them work on a toy bike after what they did to ours.

The people that work at Biller's are rude and their service is terrible.

We are many things to many people but our service is 1000%. We never heard of Titsie (that's just a creepy fake name) and Pete Wilson (a new fake name on Patch), either. Come in and introduce yourself, let's see what you need. We've helped thousands of good people with good bikes since 2006!

Well.....I don't use fake names or corporate ones. A year or so ago I had a flat tire on my truck and when I went to change it I found out the spare was flat. When I tried to avail myself of your "Free Air" to pump the spare up I was told (in no uncertain terms)that the air was for bikes only. There is your 1000% AH

Molly O'Brian

1:47 pm on Sunday, July 8, 2012

So, let me get this straight.
1. You tried to use a "free" bike air pump/compressor for your truck tire.
2. You didn't ask permission first. What time of day/night was this? (Air compressors are loud.)
3. Because the Biller's asked you to abide by their rules, they're bad?
4. In order to provide good bike service they have to give away truck service too?
Mr. Tarbert, I think you have a very odd sense of what constitutes good service. And if setting boundries for your free services makes you a "100% AH" then I suppose most business people fit that profile. Let's see, should Coakley's provide free dog chow for your pets because they sell food? Should the banks hand out free money, because after all, they have so much of it just setting on the vault shelves? Same flawed reasoning. Billers rock!

If there's a sign there that indicates "free" and doesn't specify for bikes only there's no reason to think given the situation you couldn't use it. The neighborly thing to do would have been for the employee to say sure go ahead and use it this time, but we really reserve that for bikes. This isn't money or food, it's air. Biller's might be a fine shop but they didn't handle the interaction with this customer very well.

Mike Tarbert: The sign didn't say "free air" it said "bike air" and it was tethered to a bike rack with a short three-foot-long air hose. The HdG police were very adamant that automobiles NOT be allowed to use the air because such vehicles caused a dangerous impairment in the narrow Lodge Lane alley (being too large to fit on the tiny patch of sidewalk there). People who used the air for vehicles, including motorcycles, put the entire free bike air program at risk. I'm sorry if you were offended but there are gas service stations for automobile service, and some, such as WaWa in Aberdeen, offer free tire air, as well. We're a bike shop, not a garage, and offer free bike air to cyclists to encourage cycling in the community. And Molly, thanks. We provide compressor power, maintenance and repair, hoses, fittings, insurance and a watchful eye to our free air because we do want to offer the best service we can to cyclists in Havre de Grace.

The bike community is really close here in Harford County and is blessed with good bike shops. I've been taking my bike to Billers' for a couple years now and always get top notch service and I'm made to feel part of the family. Biller's (along with MacGregors) sponsored my Ragbrai effort last year helping to raise funds for the Livestrong Foundation. They packed, shipped, recieved and put everything back together for me .. a HUGE gift of service. Like they say.. Good bikes, Good People!

Biller's Bikes has always provided outstanding customer service, quality bikes and top-notch repair service. Their community involvement is unequaled in Havre de Grace and like the old location, I believe the new location will quickly be a central hub for cultural events in town. We are a better town because Walter and Mara have decided to hang their hats in Havre de Grace.

billers bikes is a staple in our small town..knowledgeable, friendly, helpful, always have a smile for you. not only are they amazing with bicycles but they have been very active in community affairs..they had the best spot on first fridays, with music, dancing, food, and fun...they also had movie nights open to the public...
they have been working hard on creating a community, and i am glad they are in business here..

Biller's Bikes, of course! They are friendly, knowledgeable and professional, plus they are great supporters of the community. I moved to HdG from one of the top bike towns in the US -- almost 60 bicycle retailers -- and Biller's are so good they could easily compete there!

We have good service from all three shops. I think they each offer a different perspective giving Harford residents a choice. I am torn between the Bike Shop and Bike Connection so I choose them both. The Bike Shop gets a big plus for its location and support to our local groups and charities though. Thanks to all three for your integrity!

Bike Shop of Bel Air is the best! Missie, Carl, and Frank are always there to help and make you feel like family! Many services are offered from simple tube change to complete bike overhaul. They offer Giant brand bikes, largest bike manufacture in the world! Children’s bikes to the latest “Tour de France” racing dream machines are available. On a budget? They will search for the best value! Want Dura Ace di2 or the latest carbon aero wheels? No problem! The show room is small, but your bike can be ordered and delivered quickly! World class bike fitting will have you riding in comfort and greatest efficiency! They are not there to sell you the “bike on the floor”; but to sell you the bike that’s fits and you will actually ride! Weekly club rides! Eco friendly “Smart Washer” bike cleaner to keep your ride looking fresh! What else could you want!

I live in Lutherville but drive to Havre de Grace to have Walter @ Biller's Bikes work on my Raleigh vintage three speed. The bike shops in the Towson area employ snooty young men who think you are a pain unless you are considering the purchase of a $1,000 bicycle. They also happen to be overpriced, and their work is substandard. I would not allow anyone but Walter to work on my '69 Sport or '74 Schwinn Suburban. His expertise and outstanding customer service is second to none.

The Bike Shop of Bel Air gets my vote. They have the best mechanic's in the area, a knowledgeable staff, an excellent selection of bikes/gear and they are great folks to work with. Whether you are an avid cyclist or a novice you feel at home. Another bonus is that everyone there is actively involved in the cycling community with plenty of info about rides, routes, etc. Highly recommended!

Billers is in Havre de Grace - where the Reader's Choice is taking place. And Billers caters to the entire biking community, not JUST the racers. I love it that they carry such a great selection of "Drifters" and other bikes for folks who just want to pedal around town. Top mechanic - Walt is it! Top customer service - Walt and Mara are great! Community oriented - what other bike shop hosts neighborhood movie nights and world class concerts? Who else befriends the neighborhood kids who will never have the money to pay for repairs or equipment? The Biller's have brought bicycling to the core of the community and kept it there. Now that's a feat.

It's got to be the Bike Shop of Bel Air. The people there are family oriented and have a commitment to their community. The product line and quality workmanship of their mechanics is unmatched. Any small business owner could learn a thing or two from this business when it comes to customer service and employee satisfaction. Of all the shops I have dealt with over the years, the Bike Shop of Bel Air has impressed me the most.

I voted for Biller's Bike Shop. This is the first place I will go when I am able to get a handicapped bike. Biller's answered my queries without hesitation unlike other bike shops in Harford & Baltimore Counties. I wasn't put on hold and forgotten about nor was my request forgotten about. More than what I can say about 'other' bike shops.
If you want to be treated as just another customer, go wherever you want.
If you want to be treated like a friend, go to Biller's!
And no, I don't live in Havre de Grace so I am willing to travel for good friendly service.

I have seen Walter fix everything from a toddlers construction truck-shaped trike-bike to decades old vintage Italian road bikes. He can repair everything under the sun and he can tell you everything you need to know about high-speed high-quality road bikes all the same. With unpretentious, top notch service and advice Walter can get you what you need and what you want! Mara always goes the extra mile to find customers the right bike and works hard to meet every customers needs no matter who they are and no matter how small the need. Biller's Bikes hosts riders during there travels all over the county and serves up hospitality to big group rides all the same. Every community needs a place like Biller's and they deserve to be #1.
