Police Rescue Missing Belcamp Man from Cold
Helicopter, technology helped find a man suffering from dementia.
Witnesses said they saw Folley, who lives on the 200 block of Golden Eagle Way, walking out of the Belcamp neighborhood at approximately 7:30 p.m., according to a statement from the sheriff's office.
After a search of the area produced no results, officers called in a bloodhound and a helicopter. The Baltimore County Police Aviation Team responded and was able to locate Folley using thermal imaging, or an infrared system, said the sheriff's office. The Baltimore County team "almost immediately picked up the victim’s heat signature," Hopkins said, which led officials on the ground to the missing man.
Folley was lying in a stream in a wooded area near his home and was in stable condition when authorities found him around 8:30 p.m., Hopkins said.
Temperatures were in the 30s Wednesday night, and Folley was soaking wet and suffering from the cold, Hopkins said. The Abindgon Volunteer Fire Company treated Folley at the scene before he was taken by ambulance to Harford Memorial Hospital, according to the sheriff's office.
