Investigators continue to search for a Havre de Grace man reported missing last week, according to Maryland State Police.

The man, who is not being identified by police, was one of the registered owners of a Mazda found Jan. 2 near the Conowingo Dam, said Greg Shipley, spokesman for Maryland State Police.

"We cannot confirm the man we are searching for was the driver. We suspect he was, but have no positive confirmation at this time," Shipley said.

Shipley said that police have reason to believe someone jumped from the Conowingo Dam. After the car was found at 6:44 p.m. last Wednesday, US Route 1 was closed to traffic for two hours while multiple teams investigated the waters around the dam.

"The investigation has developed information that someone jumped over the dam. Who that was, we do not know for sure at this time," Shipley continued.

When Maryland State Police attempted to contact the other registered owner of the Mazda the night it was found, Havre de Grace law enforcement was already at the the house taking a missing person's report, according to a statement issued by police. A woman who owned the vehicle with her husband was reporting him missing, police said.

In the days after the man was reported missing and his vehicle was found, search and rescue teams evaluated the area. According to Shipley, "The area continues to be searched. Natural Resources Police are assisting by conducting daily checks of the water."

According to The Dagger, the man reported missing was Scott R. Hammer, 57, of Havre de Grace, who owned Bel Air's CODA Records; Hammer's family said he died Jan. 2, The Dagger reported. In Hammer's honor, Fan Death Records will host a benefit show Feb. 2 and 3 at Longshot's Sports Bar and Grill in Abingdon.

The Havre de Grace Police Department released a statement Tuesday afternoon that Scott Robert Hammer was missing.

Hammer, of the 300 block of Bourbon Street, was last seen at 9:30 a.m. on Jan. 2, according to the statement, issued Jan. 8. Police said Hammer's family reported him missing at 6 p.m. on Jan. 2 after neither seeing nor hearing from him since the morning, without knowledge of his whereabouts. The police department did not have a photo of Hammer but described him as 5'10" and 165 pounds. Anyone with information should call the Havre de Grace Police Department at 410-939-2121.
