Meet Kenny Faulcon, the Aberdeen Eagles' 6-foot-2, 220-pound starting quarterback and linebacker.
Patch caught up with Faulcon to talk about preparing for game day, college football and being a leader for his school.
Patch: What's it like being a senior?
Kenny Faulcon: People look up to you as a role model. I’m trying to be a leader in the classroom and on the field.
Patch: Who is your role model player?
KF: Oregon quarterback Darren Thomas. Everything he does is fast.
Patch: Do you try to replicate this game?
KF: Yes, sir.
Patch: Do you like watching college football or the NFL more?
KF: College fans get me hyped. They're more wild than NFL fans.
Patch: What college teams do you like to watch?
KF: Oregon Ducks, Michigan because it's The Big House, and Ohio State.
Patch: Do you have a favorite NFL team?
KF: Baltimore Ravens.
Patch: Have you always played quarterback?
KF: Freshman year I was a wide receiver. Sophomore year I played on defense, and junior year I played wide receiver.
Patch: Out of those positions, which one do you like playing the best?
KF: I like quarterback the most because I'm good under pressure, and you need to be calm at all times.
Patch: Do you play any sports other than football?
KF: I’ve played basketball and track since freshman year.
Patch: How do you physically prepare for a football game?
KF: I concentrate on cardio. Some days, I’ll go out with my dad and toss a football around.
Patch: How important is mental preparation?
KF: Mentally preparing can pay off even more before a game starts. Some people are fast and strong, but it's technique that gives you the advantage.
Patch: What's your favorite subject in school?
KF: I like math. I like competitive things, and I compete with people in class.
Patch: What do you like to do when you’re not training for sports?
KF: I like playing video games.
Patch: Favorite game?
KF: NCAA Football.
Patch: What do you need to do to keep your team playing well?
KF: I need to keep my head up and go to every game with same mentality and never give up.
Patch: What kind of music do you listen to before the game starts?
KF: Hip hop gets me into the game, gets my mind right. Lately, I’ve been listening to Young Jeezy.
Patch: What do you intend to study at college?
KF: Physical therapy.
Patch: What colleges are you looking at attending?
KF: Delaware State, but I’ll be collectively making a decision soon.
