The school year is officially over. Summer has arrived.

Around here, that means parades, fireworks and cookouts.

And, of course, IronBirds baseball. The 'Birds open Monday night on the road, with the home opener Wednesday at Ripken Stadium.

As for the fireworks: It all starts in Darlington, as the little village kicks off the Independence Day celebrations about a week before anyone else. This year, they're on June 23.
