UPDATE (10 p.m.)—Two divers from the U.S. Navy died Tuesday as the result of an incident at a pond on Aberdeen Proving Ground (APG), according to officials.
The APG Emergency Services team was called to an "incident" at the unexploded ordnance range pond, a statement from APG reported; officials did not elaborate on the nature of the incident.
One person was pronounced dead at the scene, said officials.
The second victim was taken to Harford Memorial Hospital and was pronounced dead, said APG spokesperson Kelly Luster.
Identities of the victims are not being released; it is the policy of the Navy to wait 24 hours before making this information public.
Approximately one month ago, a man died while diving in the APG "super pond." He was an Aberdeen Proving Ground diver from Nottingham.
