Aberdeen had one eye on the rearview mirror for much of the 2011-2012 season.

The Eagles won the Class 3A state championship Saturday by defeating River Hill, redeeming a loss in the 2010-2011 title game that drove them throughout the entire season.

With the motivation of avoiding repeat disappointment, Aberdeen went 27-1.
