One thing we all love doing during the holidays is finding the perfect present for someone special and seeing how much joy it brings them. But White Marsh Mall has plenty of ways to not just bring a smile to the face of your friends and family, but to those in need. That’s the true spirit of Christmas!
On WJZ’s Sunday morning news program, I was able to showcase some retailers and items that donate a portion of each purchase to charity. You can see the entire TV segment HERE.
First up, we have a delicious gift idea from Hickory Farms, who’s partnered with Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry ® Campaign. For every Party Planner Gift Box sold, they’ll donate $5 to combat child hunger. Customers also have the option to donate an additional $1 to No Kid Hungry at their store.
Animal lover? You’ll love Reeds Jewelers Tender Voices Collection. If you buy any of the items from this special line, 6% of the proceeds go to the ASPCA. You also get a complimentary pet I.D. tag for any furry friend on your list.
One of the more recognizable retail charity campaigns is Toms Shoes. The “One for One” campaign means that for every pair of shoes they sell, another pair will be donated to a child in need. So far, they’ve reached kids in more than 50 countries and donated more than 2 million pairs of shoes. Stop buy Zumiez to see the whole collection of Tom’s Shoes.
The Make-A-Wish Foundation has partnered with Things Remembered to help sick children create amazing memories of their own. A wide selection of great gifts are attached to this campaign and for every purchase, Things Remembered will donate $2 to Make-A-Wish. In just 15 years, Things Remembered has helped raise more than $6 million!
At Helzberg Diamonds, $5 from the sale of each “I am Loved Bear” is donated to Make-A-Wish. Help make a wish come true for a child with a life-threatening illness. The “I am Loved Bears” have raised more than $450,000 for the charity in only 2 years.
Zales jewelers has partnered with Persona and Autism Speaks to create the Persona Autism Speaks Beads. This beautiful line of beads would make a wonderful gift and with each bead purchase, Zales will donate $10 to Autism Speaks, the world’s leading autism science and advocacy organization. You can only find these beads at Zales.
If you have an iPhone on your wish list this year or you’re getting one for someone else, you’re going to need a new case to keep it safe. Why not get one that can help fight breast cancer? The sleek and stylish Pink OtterBox iPhone case is now available at Best Buy Mobile. 5% of the purchase price goes to the Avon Cancer Crusade, which supports finding a cure for breast cancer and advancing access to care for all, regardless of ability to pay.
Kay Jewelers is teaming up with St. Jude to offer the” Cubby” and “Cubby Jr.” bears. Since introducing the “Cubby” bear three years ago, Kay Jewelers has helped raise more than $1.8 million for St. Jude. You can take home one of these adorable gifts for just $9.95 with any purchase through 12/18/12. All profits go directly toward expenses for the kids at St. Jude.
“Hey Diddle Diddle, Ray Rice up the middle” is one of the great quotes of the Ravens season, said by Ray himself following a win in San Diego. Ray converted an incredible 4 and 29 play for a first down! Since then, the “Hey Diddle Diddle” shirt has become a hot commodity! You can get yours today at Driving Impressions. A portion of the sales will go to the Ray Rice Foundation.
No matter if your loyalty lies with the Ravens or any other NFL team, you’ll find what every fan wants at Shenk & Tittle. The partnership created between the NFL and the American Cancer Society is a terrific way to get the perfect gift AND help fight breast cancer. Check out the officially licensed gear that’s been badged with a pink ribbon- the same gear you saw on the field in October. THAT is a win-win!
And don’t forget about wrapping those presents. You can support AMC Cancer Research Center as well as Johns Hopkins Pediatric Oncology Center by getting your gifts wrapped at White Marsh Mall in the Upper Level Court, directly across from the Food Court. Prices range from $2-$15. Convenient and charitable!
And in addition, Icing, Claire’s and several other retailers take donations for St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. So while you are finishing up that shopping list consider giving one of these fantastic “gifts that give!”
