Five Things for Saturday

The Cal Ripken World Series kicked off Friday night, but the IronBirds fell to the Crosscutters.

1. The IronBirds Lose 3-7. The IronBirds lost the Williamsport Crosscutters Friday night. The Crosscutters broke a 3-3 tie in the seventh inning with four runs, Aberdeen's press release said

The Cal Ripken World Series will be held at the Ripken Academy in Aberdeen from August 12 to 21. Boys 12 and under around the globe will face off in a one-of-a-kind event that is promising for all ages. All games for the Cal Ripken World Series are free to attend. Look forward to events during the week such as Splash Day, Movie Night, Community Fitness Walk and an All Star Community Dance Party.

Come out and enjoy a good time, family and friends for some baseball.

  • Call for Artists

Where: Wilson Ministry Center, 1024 Main St, Darlington

Date: Daily

A fine arts show, sponsored by the Wilson Ministry Center in the village of Darlington, will be held Friday, September 23 through Sunday, September 25, 2011. This juried show is open to all artists in the Harford, Cecil, Baltimore and lower Pennsylvania county region.

Mail up to three photos of your work with $15 entry fee payable to the Wilson Ministry Center (tax deductible) to: Ms. Nancy Welsh, 2122 Shuresville Rd., Darlington, MD 21034. Deadline is Wednesday, August 31. No photography, prints or computer generated art will be accepted. Entry fee and 10 percent of sales benefit the Wilson Center.
