Five Things for Thursday

The IronBirds were drummed at Ripken Stadium Wednesday night.

1.  The IronBirds. Aberdeen followed in the footsteps of their parent club, the Orioles, in getting drummed by their opponent Wednesday night.

A few miles southwest of Aberdeen, the Orioles lost, 13-0, to Toronto. At Ripken Stadium, the IronBirds lost to the Tri-City Valley Cats, 16-1.

Masters of the Chainsaw at Maryland State Fair
Where
: 2200 York Rd, Timonium, MD 21093 (Maryland State Fairgrounds)

Masters of the Chainsaw is a group of the nation's top professional chainsaw sculptors. Onlookers at the Maryland State Fair, standing behind protective netting, will be able to observe an original performance. The carvers' precision quickly transforms a three-foot-tall log into a work of art. The public is also invited to participate in two auctions where the carvings will be sold to benefit the Maryland State Fair Scholarship Fund. The carvers will demonstrate their art weekdays at 1 pm, 3 pm and 7 pm. On weekends, the  demonstrations will be held at 1 pm, 3 pm, 5 pm and 7 pm. Free
with paid admission to the fair. The event will be held in the State Fair Park.
