Should Harford County be concerned about Tropical Storm Arthur? Are fireworks going to be rained out?

Harford County Emergency Manager Rick Ayers addressed those issues in a message issued on Wednesday, July 2:

"Good afternoon, this is Emergency Manager Rick Ayers with a weather update for the next several days.

"The current threat today is the heat index approaching 105 degrees this afternoon and then the threat of severe thunderstorms after 5 p.m.

"The county is under a severe thunderstorm watch at this time.

"On Thursday, there will be the continued threat of heavy rain throughout the day and severe thunderstorms.

"Tropical Storm Arthur will continue to move up the coast; however, at this time I do not expect a major impact to Harford County; however, the chance of wind gusts up to 25 mph on July 4th is a possibility as the storm passes to our East.

"Thanks and be safe."
