Date: June 3, 2011

Time: 6–8 p.m.

In case you haven't heard Zumba is a new Latin Dance that is quickly gaining popularity. And if you want to learn how to do it and raise money for a good cause at the same time don't miss the Zumbathon at the Tidewater Marina in Havre de Grace.

On July 1, 2009, Havre de Grace resident Kim Carruth was given the devastating blow that she had metastatic breast cancer.  She was diagnosed at stage three, and the cancer was very aggressive. Her oncologist put her through six rounds of chemotherapy, one every three weeks. She has also had many radiation treatments since that time.

Kim had a double mastectomy in January 2010, which was also followed by complications with reconstructive surgery.

This has been a nightmare for Kim but she has been gathering strength from all her friends and family. As a single mother of an 8-year-old boy, missing so much work, along with the testing and treatments, has taken its toll on her financially. But she is alive and intends to stay that way. She has learned not to sweat the small stuff. So in her case, cancer has actually made her see life in a whole new light: Every day is a gift.

Come out to support this cause: $10 adults/ $5 kids. All proceeds go to Kim and her family. For additional info, call or e-mail.
