House of Cards to Film Season 3 in Harford County

Nearly 300 Harford County businesses benefited from the filming, officials said.

The majority of filming and production for the Netflix hit show House of Cards has taken place in Harford County, where the show's producers plan to continue filming in the show's third season, the Harford County Office of Economic Development said Wednesday.

Knight Takes King Productions leased 91,850 square feet in Joppa in December 2013 for the third season of House of Cards, according to Sherrie Johnson, spokeswoman for Harford County government.

So far, the production company has leased a total of 190,000 square feet in Harford County altogether, according to a statement from economic development.

The House of Cards sets and sound stages are based in Harford County, Johnson said.
The show stars Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright as Frank and Claire Underwood, playing roles as the vice president and his wife, in a political thriller that started filming in Harford County in 2012 and returned in 2013 for its second season.

The second season of House of Cards was released on Netflix on Valentine's Day.

"We are all excited to watch Season Two," Harford County Director of Economic Development Jim Richardson said. "Many Harford County businesses have benefitted from the economic impact of this production..."

In season two of House of Cards, approximately 276 Harford County businesses were used for various services, not including individual purchases by cast and crew members at restaurants and bars.

Some of the local companies that benefitted from House of Cards include the following, according to the Harford County Office of Economic Development:
