Towson to Break Ground at HCC May 30: Harford Chamber Recap

The Harford County Chamber of Commerce hosted Towson University President Maravene Loeschke for its monthly luncheon meeting.

The president of Towson University came before local leaders in Harford County Thursday afternoon to share the big news: groundbreaking for Towson's satellite campus at Harford Community College will take place May 30.

Previously, funding for the project had been held up at the state level in the Board of Public Works.

Towson University President Maravene Loeschke did not mention the funding snafu and kept her remarks to the natural partnership between Towson and Harford County. Read what she talked about below.

12:42 p.m. President Loeschke said that most of the teaching program would be based in Harford County. In addition to teaching, STEM and entrepreneurship will be priorities. Internships will also be a priority. She said most of Towson's teachers come to Harford County, where there are 9,000 alumni.

12:34 p.m. Towson University is sponsoring today's lunch. "They are moving dirt. It's very exciting. We are very happy to be here," said John Desmone, who is director of Towson University's northeast programs. According to Desmone, the school was committed to the project of opening a northeast campus.

As a graduate of Towson University, it was truly a pleasure to welcome Dr. Loeschke to our Chamber luncheon today. It is a day to celebrate the "dirt being moved" on the Towson building....just the beginning of a fantastic and very welcome 2+2 program between HCC and TU!
