Harford County and most of the state are bracing for hazardous weather, which the National Weather Service said would be hitting Maryland Tuesday afternoon.
Rain should start at about 3 p.m. according to the weather service, and we can expect moderate to heavy rainfall Tuesday afternoon and evening.
In all, Aberdeen may see between one to one-and-a-half inches of rain, which will continue through Wednesday.
On the water, a small craft advisory is in effect due to high winds.
According to the forecast discussion, this time of year there is more rainwater runoff than there is rain soaked into the soil.
Runoff coupled with the amount of rain forecast can lead to small streams and creeks rising out of their banks, according to the weather service, causing local flooding, particularly in low-lying and urban areas.
If you live by such a stream, the National Weather Service suggests monitoring the forecast closely.
