Habitat Building Home in Aberdeen on Oct. 1

Habitat for Humanity will construct a home for World Habitat Day.

Habitat for Humanity Susquehanna will build a new home on Oct. 1, to mark World Habitat Day in Aberdeen.

The home will be built at 749 Battle Avenue, begining at 7:30 a.m. on Oct. 1.

As part of World Habitat Day, Habitat for Humanity and other organizations will host local events to drum up awareness for "the need for safe, decent, affordable shelter," according to a news release.

World Habitat Day was started in 1985 by The United Nations to draw attention to the need for shelter around the world.

Local and state elected officials will work with volunteers to build the home in Aberdeen. Anyone interested in volunteering may contact Habitat for Humanity Susquehanna at 410-638-4434.
