SEPTEMBER IS NATIONAL RECOVERY MONTH

Recovery Festival at Aberdeen Festival Park

It is encouraging to know that there is help, hope and healing in Harford County for those who have been affected by substance abuse.

According to Pastor Carol Taylor, President of FACE-IT and Co-Pastor of Word of Faith Outreach Ministries, "Aberdeen Festival Park is the location for our third annual Recovery Celebration." The "Recovery Festival" is from 11am-2pm on Saturday, September 22, 2012. It is open to the public and it is a family-friendly event.

Sponsors of this event are Harford County Department of Community Services, FACE-IT, Harford County Health Department, and the City of Aberdeen.

A discussion panel of individuals touched by substance abuse and recovery will share some of their stories, said Taylor. The nationally celebrated theme is "Join the Voices of Recovery." the whole family is incorporated in this celebration.

"Mayor Bennett, Judge Cooper, Extreme Family Entertainment and other organizations wil be in attendance to support the event", said Pastor Taylor.

"There will be food, games, face-painting and alot of unity. We want to raise awareness that there are success stories. "We want to celebrate those who are also working with individuals in recovery, it is a heart-wrenching ministry at different levels; you have to love what you do; prevention is what I am blessed to do," explained Pastor Taylor.

We want to take this opportunity to encourage those who are striving to be overcomers. Those who have been users can be overcomers, those who are family members of those using substances can be overcomers. Those who have been in positions of professional or non-professional helpers should be encouraged to continue the call on their lives as "earthly angels" to those who have lost their way.

We all have lost our way at some point in our lives. Let's support those who are fighting to stay alive and conquer. Let's make a deposit in our spiritual bank by celebrating someone else's victory! Help support recovery!

I told two of my employees that I had to lay them off yesterday. We all had a good laugh until IRead More told them it was not a joke. I did tell them that it was because of something some evil Republican congressman had done, and that seemed to make them feel a lot better.

Worst April Fools joke: the Maryland Legislature, our beloved leader M. O'Malley, and the poorRead More suffering citizens who are unfortunate to live the Peoples Republic of Maryland.
