Aberdeen Boy Honored For Actions During 911 Call

An Aberdeen boy was honored for his actions after his mother fell ill.

Lucas Custer was presented the Gold 911 Award by the Harford County Department of Emergency Services, the county announced Wednesday.

The 11-year-old Lucas called 911 on Dec. 13 when his mother Rita was unresponsive. He was calm and followed the dispatcher's instructions, according to the release.

Lucas was also nominated to receive the EMS for Children “Right Care When it Counts Award” from the Maryland Institute for Emergency Medical Services System and the DES Gold 911 Award, according to the release. He was also recognized in a ceremony at his school, Aberdeen Middle, on June 5.
