When Jean Harriet Mears passed away Sept. 7, Harford County lost one of its luminaries.
Mears, 84, worked as a coordinator for the Aberdeen Chamber of Commerce in 1994, where she became director until 2004; volunteered at Ripken Stadium and the Havre de Grace Visitors Center; presided over the Soroptimist Club of Havre de Grace; helped get the Havre de Grace Police Department and Community Center built; and donated land where she and husband David had a construction business so the Havre de Grace Ambulance Corps could have space, according to her obituary.
A viewing will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Zellman Funeral Home; 123 S. Washington St. in Havre de Grace.
The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Presbyterian Church of Havre de Grace; 551 Franklin St.Interment will be at Harford Memorial Gardens. Donations may go to the Presbyterian Church of Havre de Grace.
