Former Aberdeen Chamber of Commerce Director Passed Away

Services for Jean Harriet Mears will be Wednesday.

When Jean Harriet Mears passed away Sept. 7, Harford County lost one of its luminaries.

Mears, 84, worked as a coordinator for the Aberdeen Chamber of Commerce in 1994, where she became director until 2004; volunteered at Ripken Stadium and the Havre de Grace Visitors Center; presided over the Soroptimist Club of Havre de Grace; helped get the Havre de Grace Police Department and Community Center built; and donated land where she and husband David had a construction business so the Havre de Grace Ambulance Corps could have space, according to her obituary.

The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Presbyterian Church of Havre de Grace; 551 Franklin St. Interment will be at Harford Memorial Gardens. Donations may go to the Presbyterian Church of Havre de Grace.
