UPDATED: 1 Airlifted After Morning Crash in Aberdeen

One patient was flown out after a crash Monday morning on MD Route 715.

UPDATED (8:55 p.m)—One patient was airlifted after a single-vehicle accident in Monday morning.

Robby R. Cornett, 50, of the 3300 block of Churchville Road was driving a 1997 Ford pickup truck northbound on MD Route 715 when it struck a curb and guardrail before going airborne, police said. The vehicle landed upside-down approximately 70 feet down an embankment near Hickory Drive, according to a statement from Aberdeen police.

Cornett was able to climb from the vehicle, and police found him walking in the area with a head injury, according to the statemement.

He was flown to Maryland Shock Trauma and was expected to be released later Monday, police said.

Rich Gardiner, spokesman for the Harford County Volunteer Fire & EMS Association, said Cornett initially told emergency personnel there were passengers in the vehicle, but no other patients were found when personnel searched the area.

Gardiner said due to challenging terrain along the embankment, a rope rescue was required.

A statement from the Aberdeen police department said the Aberdeen Fire Department and Harford County Technical Rescue Team assisted police in the incident.
