UPDATED (Sunday, 12:44 p.m.)—An Abingdon man was killed Saturday evening when the car he was driving went off road and flipped in Joppa, the Harford County Sheriff's Office said.

Around 6:30 p.m., sheriff's office deputies responded to an area of Winters Run Road in Joppa, where they found a single vehicle had crashed. The lone occupant of that vehicle, Daniel Kolb, 39, of the 3600 block of Woodsdale Road in Abingdon, was pronounced dead at the scene, the sheriff's office said in a news release.

The Mitsubishi Eclipse hit an embankment before flipping, the release stated. The Joppa-Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company responded to the crash. Crews used a 100-foot ladder and infrared technology to search the wooded area for other victims.

Winters Run Road was closed between Singer Road and Fashion Way Saturday night as an investigation was still underway.
