Bullets Fired into Aberdeen Home, Man Inside Injured

A man was reportedly shot in the thumb inside a residence Monday morning.

Aberdeen police are investigating a shooting that injured a man while he was sitting in the living room of a home on Pinehurst Street early Monday morning.

Investigators are still trying to identify a suspect and motive in the shooting, which police said involved several rounds of bullets being shot from the outside into the front of a house in the 600 block of Pinehurst Street.

Someone in the house called police at 1:30 a.m., and paramedics from the Aberdeen Fire Department treated a 24-year-old Edgewood man for a thumb wound at the scene, according to a report from the Aberdeen Police Department.

The victim was subsequently taken to Harford Memorial Hospital, where he was treated and released, according to the report.

"One round grazed [the victim] in the thumb as he sat in the front living room," police said. "There were several other people in the home at the time but no one else was injured."

Police initially investigated a report of gunshots on Pinehurst Street at 1:07 a.m. Monday, according to Lt. Fred Budnick of the Aberdeen Police Department. He said officers could not locate anything, but it was the same incident; Budnick said those inside the home delayed calling police.

It was unknown why the victim was inside the Aberdeen home, according to Budnick.
