Aberdeen Woman Killed in Crash Near Walmart

The crash shut down US Route 40 for several hours on Wednesday.

One person died after a crash on US Route 40 at Walmart Way in Aberdeen Wednesday morning, according to police.

Virginia Walker, 69, of Aberdeen, was driving across Route 40 from Walmart Way at 10:24 a.m. when her 2004 GMC truck was hit by another vehicle, according to a statement from the Aberdeen Police Department.

Walker was extricated from her vehicle by members of the Aberdeen Fire Department and taken with life-threatening injuries to Harford Memorial Hospital, where police said she died at approximately 11:30 a.m.
Police said the driver and passenger of the 2013 Nissan that hit Walker's vehicle, two women from Conowingo, were taken to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center. They were reportedly listed in stable condition Wednesday afternoon.

Route 40 was closed at Walmart Way for approximately four hours as police investigators reconstructed the scene. The road reopened by 2:40 p.m., according to the Coordinated Highways Action Response Team.

Weather did not appear to be a factor in the crash, according to police. The Harford County Sheriff's Office and the Aberdeen Police Department were working on the investigation, which was ongoing.
