2 Teens Charged in Aberdeen BB Gun Shooting

The Harford County Sheriff's Office said one teen was driving when his passenger shot a man in the leg.

Two Harford County teens are facing assault charges in connection with a BB gun shooting in Aberdeen Monday, according to the Harford County Sheriff's Office.

Matthew Joseph Humphries, 18, of Edgewood, was identified as the suspect in a shooting, according to the report. He was charged with first and second-degree assault, the sheriff's office reported.

Police said that a 59-year-old Aberdeen man was speaking with a friend in his Spesutia Road driveway at approximately 6:30 p.m. Monday when he was shot in the back of the leg.

As he looked up, the victim saw an orange soft-top Jeep Wrangler with a person in the back laughing and holding something black, police said.

Deputies found the Jeep at the 7-Eleven on Long Bar Harbor Road at US Route 40 in Abingdon, the sheriff's office reported.

Patrick Michael Mcdermott, 18, of Joppa was identified as the driver of the Jeep, where police said they found a loaded BB rifle with a folding stock inside.

Mcdermott and Humphries were both charged with first and second-degree assault and are being held on $100,000 bond at the Harford County Detention Center.

Police said that two additional passengers in the vehicle were identified but were not charged.

According to the sheriff's office, the victim refused medical treatment.
