Police: Aberdeen Man Killed Himself After He Shot Girlfriend

Police say Elroy Emilo Cole shot himself after a violent confrontation with his live-in girlfriend.

Police say an Aberdeen man took his own life after allegedly shooting his live-in girlfriend inside their home Saturday.

Police were called to the home on the 1300 block of Tralee Circle in Aberdeen shortly after 1:30 a.m. Saturday.

Investigators said they learned a 48-year-old woman who was also a resident of the home had been assaulted and shot by her live-in boyfriend, Elroy Emilo Cole, age 45, according to a release from the .

The woman and her 22-year-old daughter ran to a neighbor's house after the shooting while her second daughter, age 25, barricaded herself inside an upstairs bedroom, according to the release.

Deputies contacted the 25-year-old and got her safely out of the home around 4:15 a.m.

Members of the sheriff's office special response team entered the home around 5 a.m. and found Cole in an upstairs bedroom, dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to the release.

The 48-year-old victim was treated at the scene and transferred to Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore for treatment. She has since been released.
