Aberdeen Middle Student Arrested For Starting Fire

An Aberdeen boy was released to the custody of his parents after lighting paper products in school.

An Aberdeen boy was arrested Friday after allegedly starting a fire in a bathroom in Aberdeen Middle School.

According to the Maryland State Fire Marshal, the 12-year-old boy lit paper products on fire inside of a student bathroom on two different occasions. 

School staff members discovered the fire, and it was controlled. The fire department did not have to respond.

There was an estimated $50 in damages, none to the structure of the building.

The boy was released to the custody of his parents.
