Aberdeen Police Charge Belcamp Man in Laptop Theft

The man is accused of stealing a laptop belonging to a student who is partially blind and has cerebral palsy.

A Belcamp man was charged on Thanksgiving Day in connection with a laptop stolen from a disabled college student at the Aberdeen library, police said.

Earl Dean Eller, 59, of the 1200 block of Brass Mill Road in Belcamp, was charged with theft between $1,000 and $10,0000.

"A citizen's tip assisted investigators in identifying a suspect," the Aberdeen Police Department said Friday.

The laptop was stolen Nov. 16 after the man followed the victim—a Towson University junior with cerebral palsy and partial blindness—around the Aberdeen branch of the Harford County Library, according to The Record.

Police said the MacBook Pro that was stolen was worth $4,500.

According to ABC 2 News, the victim was a music major whose compositions and newly recorded album were stored on the laptop.

Aberdeen police said Friday that the laptop was recovered and returned to the owner.

Eller was served with a criminal summons and released, police said. He is scheduled to appear Jan. 28 in Harford County District Court.
