Aberdeen Police Charge Teen in Amtrak Tunnel Robbery

Police said the teen has been charged as an adult.

A Perryman teen has been charged in an armed robbery at the Aberdeen Amtrak tunnel, the Aberdeen Police Department reported.

Matthew Moorehead, 17, of the 300 block of Mayberry Drive, is accused of approaching a 64-year-old man in the Amtrak tunnel at 2:20 p.m. Monday, taking out a handgun and demanding the victim's wallet, according to police.

Police said the wallet did not have any cash inside and upon discovering this, Moorehead ran away.

Detectives arrested Moorehead at 10 p.m. Monday, according to the statement from Aberdeen police, which was issued Wednesday. Police said that Moorehead has been charged as an adult with armed robbery, attempted robbery and handgun violations.

Moorehead is being held at the Harford County Detention Center on $100,000 bond, police said.
