Aberdeen Police Charge Havre de Grace Man in Vi Ripken Holdup

A Havre de Grace man is facing multiple charges in connection with the incident outside an Aberdeen bank.

After Violet Ripken, mother of Baseball Hall of Famer Cal Ripken Jr., was held up in a bank parking lot Tuesday, Aberdeen police said they have charged a Havre de Grace man in connection with the incident.

Jesse A. Bowen, 33, of the 800 block of Lafayette Street in Havre de Grace, was charged with attempted carjacking, attempted armed robbery, attempted robbery, first-degree assault, drug possession and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Aberdeen police said Ripken reported to staff at NBRS Bank in the 200 block of W. Bel Air Avenue that a man approached her with a gun in the parking lot around 3 p.m. Tuesday and said he wanted her vehicle. Police identified Bowen using an ATM photo and reportedly found him in the 400 block of Post Road at approximately 5:15 p.m.

Bowen was being held Wednesday at the Harford County Detention Center.
