APG: 'No Change...Due to Events at Navy Yard'

Aberdeen Proving Ground carried on with business as usual Monday.

After at least 13 people were killed during a mass shooting at Washingon Navy Yard Monday morning, Aberdeen Proving Ground (APG) said that it has not changed its policies and encourages individuals to be on the lookout.

"There has been no change to Force Protection level for APG due to events at the Navy Yard this morning," APG posted to its Facebook page around 5 p.m. Monday.

At Fort Meade in Anne Arundel County, officials increased security at the gate after the morning's events.

At Andrews Air Force Base, security was heightened, and around D.C., the Prince George's County Police Department increased patrols at metro stations.

APG encouraged its employees to stay alert, posting to Facebook: "All employees and affiliated personnel are encouraged to increase personal vigilance and report suspicious personnel, objects or conduct to the APG Police Desk at 410-306-0550."
