Belcamp Gazebo Torched Early Sunday Morning

The Maryland State Fire Marshal said arson was to blame.

A series of combustable materials is to blame for a fire that burned a gazebo early Sunday morning in Belcamp.

The Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office said arson was to blame for the fire, which originated on the flooring of the gazebo and caused approximately $1,000 in damage to the wood-framed structure.

The incident occured in the 1400 block of Dalmation Place in Belcamp, the fire marshal said. The structure is owned by Arborview Apartment Homes.

The fire marshal's report indicated the fire started "due to common combustibles being ignited on the wooden floor of the gazebo."

Responding at 4:15 a.m. Sunday, the Abingdon Volunteer Fire Company had the blaze under control in 20 minutes, according to the Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office.
