National Baseball Hall of Famer Cal Ripken will speak to the media about Vi Ripken's abduction.

Cal Ripken has given many speeches and news conferences from the B&O Warehouse at Oriole Park at Camden Yards.

Not like this.

Ripken, the National Baseball Hall of Famer, will address the media Friday morning in regards to the abduction of his mother.

will provide a recap of the press conference.

Violet Ripken, 74, was taken from her home by a man hiding in her garage between 7 and 8 a.m. on July 24, and returned unharmed to her neighborhood, where she was found tied up in her car around 6:15 a.m. on July 25, police said.

Cal Ripken will be the only family member to speak at the news conference, which will begin with an update from law enforcement.

PHD in blogging. LOL
Courtney August 6, 2012 at 07:28 pm
And according to our new blog professor Dawnp, we are now bff's! Fantastic! I love new friends! LOL
Laura Jackson August 6, 2012 at 07:47 pm
Oh no, Courtney and Leslie--looks like we have a "new" expert in here (DawnP). It's funny how she took what I said so LITERALLY about men and women. Geez. You cannot even "joke" around anymore (without somebody jumping in and screaming). Besides, dear Ms. (if you truly are a woman) DawnP, what I stated in my post is a FACT. If you go through ALL of the blogs regarding the Ripken's "alleged" kidnapping case, you will notice how all of the posts (the ignorant ones; i.e., one saying I was a nut, I was accused of not taking my Paxil and Xanax (when I DO NOT TAKE DRUGS, thank you), and especially the one from RYAN who said AFTER my daughter IS raped (referring to a threat), ALL of those ignorant posts (that were allowed by the Administrator) were by MEN. So, is this a case of men against women? I believe so. I believe the men who have come onto here have made ignorant threats and posts (just because they believe this whole story). And, while Courtney, Leslie and I (among some of the others) also believe this story is "fishy" and has lacked credibility, YOU come out of nowhere to SLAM us. Why? We are only expressing OUR opinions. And, while you stated that the "Patch" does not have to abide by the First Amendment, well--that simply is what we, as Americans (if you are one) should live by--the U.S. Constitution. That includes the "Patch." And, I do believe that Courtney, Leslie and I would be GREAT friends. LOL. So, lighten up there DawnP--sorry you disagree with us.
Laura Jackson August 6, 2012 at 07:55 pm
Perhaps if Courtney, Leslie and my posts continue to get deleted, we could always create our OWN blog (with our own rules as to what we believe people can and cannot say). If that's the case, who knows? I might just do that--become an "Administrator" and have all of the control. Would that make you happy, DawnP (although I truly believe you may be "Ryan"--IDK)? How would YOU feel if you had to be like some "robot" and have to agree with everything that everybody else said ALL THE TIME? Is that what this world come down to? I suppose that idea would work in a Socialistic Country. But, not here. Not if you are a true American. And, thank God I am--a true American that believes in freedom of speech (not just for myself, but for everyone). I only wish everyone could "lighten up" once in a while, not always have to be "politically correct all the time" and could have a sense of humor. But, there will always be those who are too serious. I guess I am too "immature" for you, DawnP. But, I thank God that I still have a big kid in me and am able to laugh when someone tells a joke. By the way, it is no longer called a manhole cover. Since women can now work in sewers (if they so choose--which, btw--I do not), I will call them peopleholes (or peepholes, for short). LOL. :D
Laura Jackson August 6, 2012 at 08:01 pm
Oh Ryan, "girl," I told the truth. The Ripken family IS wasting tax dollars on this investigation. Do you think THEY are paying out of their own pockets? Sorry--but, the FBI is not funded by the Ripken family. So much for YOUR "defamation." I have not "defamed" anyone (even you). I only speak the facts (that are reported in the news; i.e., FOX NEWS) and I express my opinions. Apparently, if you ARE a female (and I doubt that by saying such a thing as a threat about AFTER my daughter IS raped. . . .), then you need serious help. There is a thing such as joking around. But, rape is nothing to joke about. How would you feel if the same was said about YOU? I simply stated that since the FBI does perform lie detector tests on a regular basis, it would make sense to see if the story IS credible before wasting hundreds of thousands of dollars to investigate it. But, whatever. . . .
Leslie Schildgen August 6, 2012 at 08:04 pm
Peopleholes. . . LOL
Laura Jackson August 6, 2012 at 08:06 pm
P.S. Ryan, where did I say in ANY of my posts that I was going to tell the police what you wrote? I simply stated that I have MANY friends in the police department. And, I will let them deal with you. So, I am not contradicting ANYTHING I've said. All this proves to me is that you are scared--because you know what you said about my daughter is defamatory. And, thanks--whether it has been deleted or not--it's still defamatory (since it was up for quite a while). I have proof of that (seeing that I printed out those copies, time stamped). I just don't take too kindly to any threats made about any of my children. And, women usually don't say things like you have--especially threaten anyone's child. Would a man say that? IMO--yes--especially if rape was on his mind (and it obviously was--seeing that everyone in here was talking about abduction/kidnapping). Nobody brought up rape (except for you). That's sad as well as sick.
Laura Jackson August 6, 2012 at 08:11 pm
Sorry, Ryan--looks like I have more "friends" in Patch than you do. From what I can see, EVERYONE has criticized your ignorant comment about my daughter being raped. Well, DawnP might be your friend. But, that is strictly up to him/her. Good day to you!
Laura Jackson August 6, 2012 at 08:19 pm
Yes, Leslie--Peepholes are on doors; peopleholes are on floors. LOL. And, as for "Ryan," so lady-like, now isn't s(he), what's the haha--bring it you nut??? I'm the nut? No--don't you realize that everything you post can be traced from your computer? And, yes--I do mean everything. Sorry to inform you of that. All I know is that I will do whatever needs to be done to protect my daughter from people like you. Woman? I think not. Lady? I KNOW not. LOLYSIA.
kzk August 6, 2012 at 08:21 pm
Wow! I thought I was reading a story about Vi Ripken's abduction, not a soap box for eveything else wrong in the world. BTW, please check your spelling ladies!
Courtney August 6, 2012 at 08:33 pm
I am starting to think that we make a good team, Laura and Leslie :) Look how many comments we have had. Kudos to us! Also, I didn't know we had the grammar police on our tails. Maybe KZK, DAWNP, and RYAN are all the same person? maybe? possibly?
kzk August 6, 2012 at 08:35 pm
Ignorance is bliss, obviously
Eleanor August 6, 2012 at 08:36 pm
I think the biggest insult is calling a 74 year old woman elderly. 85 might be elderly, but there are many working women who are 74 and are vital and lively. And what difference does it make how old anyone is when something like this happens?
DawnP August 6, 2012 at 08:37 pm
You should probably look up the word "defamation" in the dictionary. It doesn't mean what you seem to think it means.
Laura Jackson August 6, 2012 at 08:40 pm
Yay, Courtney!!! I agree. And, yeah--Ryan (he/she/???) is a "computer expert." He/she/???, I believe, is also friends with the new KZK. But, you're so right. KZK, DAWNP AND RYAN could be all one and the same. That's very funny. But, for you--KZK--wat ar yu tawkin abowt? Wat is rong wit hour spelin? Oops. Purhapps, I shud gest ask Rien (Ryan). He/she/??? is da kumpooter spechalest in heer. tee hee. Hey Courtney and Leslie--how about us getting our OWN blog? I think it would be fun, and we wouldn't have to worry about the grammar police being on our tails either. LOL. :D
DawnP August 6, 2012 at 08:42 pm
Oh, so now the Patch comments section is a popularity contest as well as a "blog." I guess that makes sense if this is the only social interaction you can get. For me, not so much. I'm sure that Ryan is probably a very nice person, but I don't know nearly enough about her to decide to be friends.
Maybe your new friend Leslie can ask one of the attorneys at the law firm she works at to explain to you how the First Amendment works. Oh, but then she'd have to explain to them how she's "blogging" about her conspiracy theories on company time, which is probably not the best idea.
Laura Jackson August 6, 2012 at 08:47 pm
Oh DawnP--sorry--I will look up "defamatory" in the dixinery write aftur I getz me a gud spelen cource. KZK sez we gurlz kneed 2 lern how 2 spel furst. Otay??? LOL. For the record--my cousin is a top-notch attorney. So, yes--I believe I already know what constitutes defamation of character by its legal terms. But, thanks for considering me.
kzk August 6, 2012 at 08:49 pm
So being a bully has so much to do with this news story...
Leslie Schildgen August 6, 2012 at 08:50 pm
HHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!
Leslie Schildgen August 6, 2012 at 08:51 pm
Laura that was histerical!!! Oops . . . did I spell that right?
Leslie Schildgen August 6, 2012 at 08:52 pm
Yes, KZK. . . a bully has kidnapped Ripken
Courtney August 6, 2012 at 08:52 pm
Ryan a nice person? Since when is it nice to talk about children being raped?! You my friend, are the nut job. You are just as sick as he/she is!
DawnP August 6, 2012 at 08:53 pm
So how was what Ryan said "about your daughter" defamation? Before, you were complaining that it was a threat. A threat and defamation are two entirely different things. (Ryan's post wasn't either of them, but you should at least pick one if you're going to get all up in arms about it.)
Laura Jackson August 6, 2012 at 08:55 pm
Oh dear DawnP. I feel so sorry for you. You have Leslie and me confused, I suppose. I am assuming you were just referring to me (saying that I am working at a law firm)??? No. Now, you must go back and re-read my statement. I said, and please do not make me repeat myself again--I have a COUSIN who is a TOP-NOTCH attorney. So, please get your facts and information correct before ACCUSING someone of being on a blog on COMPANY TIME. Now, if you would like to know something--THAT is defamation of character my little one. Falsely accusing someone of doing something and defaming one's character. And, gee whiz--I did not even have to look that up in a dictionary. Aren't you so proud? LOLSFH.
yvonne bachman August 6, 2012 at 08:58 pm
Sean, where are you?
Courtney August 6, 2012 at 08:59 pm
Oh Ryan, I see. So it's perfectly accpetable to refer to an adult being raped rather than a child. EITHER WAY it is WRONG! You have lost your mind. I'm willing to be anything you are on the watchdog list.
Laura Jackson August 6, 2012 at 09:02 pm
DawnP (AKA possibly Ryan)--I DO know the difference between a threat AND defamation of character. Unfortunately, you wouldn't know that since you are apparently "new" here. Ryan did BOTH. He "threatened" my daughter (and btw--Ryan--I never said whether my daughter was young or a child; either way rape is rape), by her/his/??? nasty comment about, "AFTER my daughter IS raped. . . ." Yes, DawnP, THAT is a threat. As for the "defamation of character," she/he/??? falsely accused me of taking paxil and xanax--two medications that I have NEVER taken (nor do I need to take them--thank you). And, that, my dear, IS "defamation of character." So, why don't you and Ryan get together to discuss these two issues? If you are one and the same, then speak to yourself. If you are of a split-personality, then speak to one another. Either way, talk it out and you will see that Ryan is guilty of both a threat AND defamation of character. Okay--I'm done here. I do not care to talk to, well. . . I will not say. At least, in here. But, Courtney and Leslie would agree with me, I'm sure. LOL.

One year while in nyc with a college trip I told my parents I had gotten on a train for baltimore,Read More fed up with the school people... I had my mother write down the info and read it back to me several times before she caught on.... This year my daigther called grandma and said she fell down and was bleeding, and couldnt find me.... I started laughing when her injury changed from her knee to her elbow and back.....

I told two of my employees that I had to lay them off yesterday. We all had a good laugh until IRead More told them it was not a joke. I did tell them that it was because of something some evil Republican congressman had done, and that seemed to make them feel a lot better.

Worst April Fools joke: the Maryland Legislature, our beloved leader M. O'Malley, and the poorRead More suffering citizens who are unfortunate to live the Peoples Republic of Maryland.
