Fire Damages Vacant House in Aberdeen

A home located on East Bel Air Avenue had been vacant for a decade when it burned.

The Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal is investigating what caused a vacant Aberdeen home to burn Friday night.

The residence, located at 15 East Bel Air Avenue, had been vacant for a decade when fire caused approximately $50,000 in damages just before midnight on Friday.

The fire, discovered by someone passing by at 11:58 p.m. on May 3, took approximately an hour and a half to control, according to the state fire marshal. The release noted that 60 firefighters—from Aberdeen, APG, Level and the Susquehanna Hose Company—fought the one-alarm blaze.

The fire began in the interior of the home, but the preliminary cause was still under investigation, the fire marshal said.
