Fire Marshall: Second Suspect Arrested in Aberdeen Arson

A Belcamp man turned himself into police Wednesday following a three month investigation surrounding an Aberdeen arson.

Brenden Anthony Johnson, 20, was arrested and charged with second-degree arson, malicious burning and malicious destruction of property, the release states. It is believed Johnson was involved in setting fire to a woman’s 2006 Hyundai four-door sedan in Nov. 2012, according to a release from the Maryland State Fire Marshall.

He is currently being held at the Harford County Detention Center on $50,000 bond. Johnson is the second suspect charged in connection with the incident in the 1400 block of Cranberry Road.

Edgewood resident Joel Michael Fonzi, 18, was charged for his alleged role in the arson on Feb. 19. He too remains in custody at the Harford County Detention Center on $250,000 bond. His bail had been reduced from $1 million following a bail review hearing on Feb. 21, The Aegis reported.

The two men caused about $1,500 in damage, the release says.
