Harford Sheriff: Armed Men Invade Perryman Apartment

One man was assaulted and three women were held up by men whose faces were covered in Perryman Monday night, the Harford County Sheriff's Office said Tuesday.

After hearing a knock, Mario Sawyer, 33, of the 800 block of Earlton Road in Havre de Grace, opened the door to an apartment on the 200 block of Mayberry Drive in Perryman to find four armed men with their faces covered, the report stated.

Sawyer fell backward and one of the men hit him with the butt and barrel of a shotgun, while others demanded his money and took a cell phone and an undisclosed amount of cash, police said.

The four men then held the resident of the apartment, a 29-year-old woman, at knifepoint and took her cell phone and money before leaving, according to the report. The woman's sons were home during the incident and were not injured, according to the sheriff's office.

Police said that when the suspects were on the way out, they reportedly held two additional women at gunpoint in the hallway. A 25-year-old from Havre de Grace and a 22-year-old from Perryman said they were going to visit the woman where the home invasion occurred when they saw four to six men running from the apartment, according to the sheriff's office. The men did not take anything from the women, the report stated.

When police arrived after 10:40 p.m. Monday, they found Sawyer on the floor bleeding and covered with blankets, the report stated. Paramedics from the Aberdeen Fire Department treated him at the scene before taking him to Harford Memorial Hospital. His condition was not known Tuesday morning, according to the sheriff's office.

The Harford County Sheriff's Office is investigating the incident and is looking for the suspects, who were reportedly men between 5-foot-5 and 6 feet tall, wearing dark hoodies and jeans and armed with at least four guns and one knife.
