The 19-year-old was reportedly close to home when she was killed on Route 136.

UPDATE (2:58 p.m.)—Churchville resident Elizabeth Anne Wald, 19, was killed Thursday morning less than a mile from her home, according to Maryland State Police.

A man named Jeff Wald, who identified himself as the victim's uncle, described her as "beautiful" and "funny" in a Twitter post just before 10 a.m. Thursday, in which he asked for prayers for his family.

Route 136 was closed between MD Route 22 (Churchville Road) and Cool Spring Road for several hours Thursday morning as police investigated. Officials said Thursday afternoon that neither speed nor alcohol was a factor in the crash.
