I-95 Reopens Near Aberdeen after Fatal Crash

The crash occurred before 6 a.m. Wednesday.

A crash on Interstate 95 shut down the southbound lanes of the highway for several hours after a fatal crash Wednesday morning, according to the Aberdeen Police Department.

By 9 a.m. Wednesday, all lanes of I-95 had reopened, according to the Coordinated Highways Action Response Team (CHART).

The crash—which was on I-95 south at mile marker 86.5, just prior to the MD Route 22 exit—involved three vehicles, according to CHART, which reported I-95 south was shut down at 5:45 a.m. Wednesday.

Aberdeen police said a tractor trailer was involved and advised just before 7 a.m.: "Expect I-95 to be closed for several hours SB prior to MD Route 22 exit 85 Aberdeen."

There were "serious injuries" as a result of the incident, and a helicopter was requested for medical transport, Harford County Volunteer Fire & EMS spokesman Rich Gardiner reported.

Aberdeen police advised taking US Route 40 as an alternate route. WBAL TV said traffic was also being diverted onto MD Route 155 in Havre de Grace.
