PHOTOS: Suspect In Vi Ripken Abduction

Police have released images of Vi Ripken's suspected kidnapper.

UPDATED (6:44 p.m.)—Aberdeen police continue to investigate the circumstances that led to  and said no motive has been determined.

Ripken, 74, was found safely with her hands bound in the back of her car Wednesday after being driven around the Baltimore metro region, police said during a .

police spokesman Lt. Fred Budnick said Thursday afternoon that a motive remains under investigation and that police are still searching for the suspect.

See the images in this slideshow provided by the police department via the .

In a statement released earlier Wednesday, Aberdeen police said a man armed with a handgun—described as in his late 30s or early 40s wearing a light colored shirt, camouflage pants and glasses—forced Ripken into her vehicle between 7 and 8 a.m. Tuesday. The vehicle fled the area, police said.

Budnick would not identify the source of the images of the suspect, and said that information was pertinent to the ongoing investigation.

Police also released an image of Ripken's car (see photos included with this post) in hopes of finding a resident who happened to see the vehicle during the time in which Ripken was abducted.

A reward is being offered to anyone who submits a tip that leads to an arrest. (See the included PDF file for more details.)

Anyone with information may call Aberdeen police at 410-272-2121.

.... suppose Carole is white person - Is she still a racist or just making a general observation?
Laura Jackson July 27, 2012 at 03:02 PM
That's right, Carole. All white people are crazy! Geez! I mean--weren't all of those face-eating "zombie" people white? And, the stabbings that happen on a daily basis--they were white, too? Right? And, all gang members--white as well. Oh--and that officer that "killed" the boy in Randallstown (according to you--on purpose), wasn't HE white, as well? What was that?? No--they were NOT white??? Wow! Guess you were proved wrong. There are "crazy" people in ALL walks of life. And, racists too--which you just proved to everyone on here that THAT is what you are! Shame on you! Nobody has any say as to what their race will be when coming into this world. GOD DECIDES THAT FOR YOU! So, for you to be all proud for being black or NOT WHITE (according to you), you should really be ashamed of yourself! May God forgive you!!!

Why is everyone attacking Carol?! What about the doofus who kidnapped someone? As for race, all of y'all get off your damn soapboxes. Carol can say what she wants just as you can because she lives in a free country. And she is NOT a racist. By the way, my daughter is also "just human" though she is not biracial. Pretty racist ideology in my opinion, BlueStarMom. Try thinking before you speak and stop talking out of your butt.

this one's for you Carole MIler and all you other unobjective people " While the shooting in Aurora, Colorado got a lot of national attention, a previous shooting, which took place in April and virtually no one heard about it. On April 22, 2012 convicted felon Kiarron Parker, just released from jail, entered the parking lot of an Aurora, Colorado church and shot and killed one of the members of the congregation before being killed himself by a member carrying concealed. Parker had been convicted for assaulting two police officers, breaking and entering and drug abuse. The details of his criminal past can be found here and here. Parker sped into the parking lot of New Destiny Center church in Aurora, crashed into a car, then fired at people who came to his aid. The shooting killed Josephine Echols, the mother of a pastor at the church, police said. Echols’ nephew Antonio Milow, an off-duty Denver police officer who was attending a church service, then shot and killed Parker, authorities said. You are all missing the point. And YOU are the ones dragging race into this. A crime is a crime and is wrong. Period. It's unfortunate and disturbing. It doesn't matter the color or ethnicity of the person. Right? Back off, take a chill pill and learn to be objective. And if you're going to throw God into this against His will, at least understand that even He gives us rights/free will. He will make the ultimate decisions. Stop hating.

Let's help find the man who kidnapped Vi Ripken. Stop with the racist remarks!!! Praising GOD for putting a hedge of safety around Vi Ripken and keeping her safe. Thanking GOD the man wasn't a murderer, it could have ended very bad.
Red Dolphin July 29, 2012 at 07:58 PM

Well Monica she is a racist. Educate yourself before your speak out of yours. Making a statement about a person's color is RACIST. Sounds like someone needs their own soapbox. BTW mine are treated poorly by both sides, so when you can suffer the pain for the ideals set by society for your child let me know. Until such time continue to judge someone else. Racial comments are unacceptable, no matter who they are made by.

This is the SECOND elderly woman taken from the Walmart in Aberdeen. If you can remember approximately 2004 and elderly woman was taken and left on the side of the road. Crime needs to be a total effort of the community, but unfortuately people biases cloud the issue itself. Basic issue - DRUGS = crime, educate our children and give them something productive in this county to do so they don't become part of the statistic. Vi Ripkin's biggest contribution to the community (besides her family) is her participation in Boys and Girls Club. More people need to be using the services to keep their children out of the crime occuring rapidly in this community.
BlueStarMom July 30, 2012 at 08:09 PM
I totally agree Red. Our children are our future and Cal is still teaching kids humility, integrity and dedication through his baseball programs.
BlueStarMom July 30, 2012 at 08:13 PM
Stop hating??? Wow Monica you told me off and you don't even know what color I am. Our point is that crime is crime and someone saying "another crazy white person" is as unacceptable as it is for someone calling me something that is unacceptable. Stop assuming and reacting to your assumptions, gather objective information and determine your own thoughts. So looking at the "suspect", I don't know him; but, if I did I would turn his name in to protect the citizens of this county. Even the white ones.
Laura Jackson August 02, 2012 at 01:31 PM
Forgetting about Carole's remark (who DID start this whole "race" thing), let me start by saying that it's "funny" (strange) that Mrs. Ripken was "kidnapped" and yet nothing happened to her. She wasn't harmed in any of this; there was no ransom in this case; and, so, what was the point of this "kidnapping"? I just don't understand any of this case. Something about the whole "kidnapping" sounds fishy. And, they are pointing this guy out in the picture as being the number one suspect? How are they so sure HE is the guy guilty of this act? And, not to sound funny or anything, but the picture is rather blurry. In fact, it looks like most of the pics I have seen of bigfoot. People assume they see Bigfoot; yet, they can never capture a "clear" picture. Perhaps they will capture the real kidnapper and then be able to get a CLEAR picture of the guy.
Laura Jackson August 02, 2012 at 04:16 PM
On a more serious note, has anyone else noticed the "conflicting" comments in these police reports??? One said the man was described by Mrs. Ripken herself (while another indicated that another DRIVER noticed this suspicious vehicle with a woman in the back seat with her MOUTH TAPED SHUT. None of the other reports indicated her mouth had been taped. And, if that were true (someone ALERTED THE BCPD THEY SAW A WOMAN IN THE BACK SEAT WITH HER MOUTH TAPED), then someone please tell me how, "this man even lit her cigarettes for her and they stopped for food." How would she have been able to smoke and eat if her mouth had been taped? Mrs. Ripken does not tell the police they stopped to EAT? And, if so, WHERE did they stop to eat? I'm certain that most, if not all, places have video surveillance. And, please do not say the pics (above) are from that surveillance. I highly doubt someone would leave a woman bound up, blindfolded, and mouth taped inside of a car (while he went into a grocery store to get food). I don't know about this whole story (which has now become WORLD-WIDE NEWS). I truly believe the police need to question Mrs. Ripken AGAIN. Was she just blindfolded and hands bound? If that were the case, she could have SCREAMED for help when this guy got out of the car. If her mouth was taped, how did she smoke and eat? And, Mrs. Ripken cannot say if this man took anything (as in MONEY MISSING)??? Yeah--something is fishy here. hmmm.
BlueStarMom August 05, 2012 at 12:40 AM
People doing these types of things are usually NOT the sharpest tools in the shed. I don't think he knew who she was. If you have EVER had a traumatic experience like this you would know that your story can change. I know that I have memory problems when I am not in a traumatic situation. The guy look really familiar but the picture is horrible and who wants to accuse someone based on that terrible picture epecially after they said he had glasses. REALLY??? I didn't even see the glasses until someone said something.
Laura Jackson August 07, 2012 at 06:53 PM
I will ask this question again: How come NOBODY in a crowded store (with a crowded parking lot) NOTICED a woman BLINDFOLDED, MOUTH DUCT-TAPED AND TIED UP IN THE BACK SEAT OF THIS CAR? If so, why wouldn't ANYONE have called 911, blocked this vehicle from moving, or follow the perp at the TIME this vehicle was spotted? Same goes for the person who supposedly called the police about this "suspicious" guy driving around with a woman blindfolded and gagged in the back seat of the car. Are you trying to tell me if YOU saw something like THAT, you would only call 911 and tell them the make/model of the vehicle and the tag number?? You wouldn't FOLLOW this individual WHILE on the phone with 911??? If you would answer NO, then please do not comment that you are "concerned" citizens. NORMAL people WOULD follow this vehicle. That's why this story sounds too "fishy" to be true. And, the guy is NOT wearing "camoflauge" pants. He's wearing basic blue/grey pants. As for telling people who have had "traumatic" experiences, their stories can change--well, that's NOT true. In fact, if you ever have a really "traumatic" experience, you tend to KNOW and REMEMBER EVERY DETAIL OF THE EVENT. Those who are NOT traumatized or who "create" stories are more likely to have their stories change. Case example? How about that of Casey Anthony? She was NOT telling the truth EVER (which is WHY her story changed all the time). It's hard to keep your facts straight if you're not truthful.
BlueStarMom August 12, 2012 at 03:03 PM
Laura you would be surprised at how many people are oblivious to things going on around them. How many people actually bother looking at a car alarm going off anymore? I can't get the imagine of the young girl who was stabbed repeatedly and raped in her apartment building and after the man left her for dead, she crawled all three levels banging on every door trying to get help and NOT ONE SINGLE NEIGHBOR....People that knew her and lived near her...called the police....she didn't survive. So thinking that NO one noticed, no one took the time to give a crap does not surprise me...It just makes me sick. I would have done something, but welcome to America....everyone here has a right to DO NOTHING...
Laura Jackson August 13, 2012 at 06:00 PM
You're absolutely right, BlueStarMom. It's SO sad that people ignore pleas for help anymore. How people ignore car alarms; how people don't take "notice" of anything anymore. I, however, seem to notice EVERYTHING around me. Sometimes, I notice too much. One night, I heard a woman screaming to the top of her lungs next door to me. I heard loud banging on the walls, too. Thinking my neighbor could be in terrible danger, I DID call 911 to report this. The kicking and screaming went on for over a half an hour. The police DID come out. And, then the police stopped at MY house afterwards (only to inform me that my next door neighbors were having a very LOUD night of WILD sex). Boy, was I ever humiliated? But, then again--I look at it this way. It's better to be safe than sorry. LOL. And, yes--if I see a mother smacking her kid in the head (just because the little boy was asking his mother for a candy bar at the grocery store), I will speak up then, too. This also happened to me. I told the mother to STOP! She just gave me a really dirty look and told me to mind my own business. Really? Mind my own business when I think a kid is being "abused" just because he "asked" if he could get a candy bar? No way. Looks like I will always be looking out for the bad guys--no matter what the cost (even in a humiliating situation). I still think if more people would learn to "pay attention" to their surroundings, this would be a much safer place to live.
