UPDATE: Driver Dies In Thursday Morning Crash

A man died in a single-vehicle accident on MD Route 22 Thursday morning.

UPDATED (2:30 p.m.)—A man died in a Thursday morning accident that tied up traffic for more than an hour on MD Route 22, police said.

Aberdeen police spokesman Lt. Fred Budnick said a man was pronounced dead on the scene after crashing his Nissan Rogue along eastbound MD Route 22 before the U.S. Route 40 overpass.

"The vehicle left the roadway, traveled a distance and struck a tree," Budnick said.

Police are withholding the name of the victim pending notification of next of kin.

The accident closed a stretch of Route 22 from Mount Royal Avenue to Rogers Street, said on their Facebook page. As of 9 a.m., the left lane was getting by the accident scene.

In an early morning post on its Facebook page, the Harford County Fire & EMS Association said that the accident involved a rescue.

Both Aberdeen police and the Harford County Fire & EMS Association indicated the accident was "serious."

Around 9 a.m., MD Route 22 is a primary entryway into . Morning traffic from MD Route 22 was overflowing onto city streets, including West Bel Air Avenue.

There's more to this story. We saw him shoot out of laurel bush at the 95 bridge onto 136 on2 wheels. Never stopped at the sign. He was followed by police

I worked with this gentleman. Out of respect for his family I won't give his name, but he was in the hospital a few weeks ago and we believe that he may have suffered a heart attack at the wheel.

From where he lived, I don't think he would've been on the roads you mention to get to work.
