Aberdeen Hosts Harford CROP Walk

The October event helps fight hunger.

Aberdeen joins more than 1,000 communities across the country where people are walking to combat hunger.

On Saturday, Oct. 19, Aberdeen will host the sixth annual Harford CROP Walk at Festival Park.

The 5K walk/run is part of an effort called "Communities Responding to Overcome Poverty" (CROP).

According to a press release from Harford County, there are more than 1,600 CROP walks nationwide.

Registration for the CROP Walk in Aberdeen costs $25. Of the money raised, 25 percent will go to The Sharing Table, a soup kitchen in Edgewood; 75 percent will help combat hunger around the world.

Registration begins at 8:30 a.m.
Zumba warm-up at 8:45 a.m.
Opening ceremony with remarks by County Executive David Craig at 9 a.m.
The 5K run and walk begins at 9:15 a.m.
