“I am proud that the BRAC Subcabinet has received this honor for our diligent work to make Base Realignment a success,” said Brown. “We will continue to build on our progress in order to stay ready for BRAC and the thousands of jobs it will bring to Maryland over the coming years.”

The Achievement Award was presented during the 2011 Maryland Public Service Awards Program held in conjunction with the ASPA national conference in Baltimore at the Renaissance Baltimore Harborplace Hotel.

Through a regional approach, the sub-cabinet coordinates state activities and works with the federal and local governments to accommodate incoming households and jobs while sustaining and enhancing the quality of life throughout the State.

Now in its final year, the BRAC Subcabinet was convened in 2007 to coordinate the state’s efforts to address the challenges and maximize the opportunities that came with the U.S. Department of Defense’s 2005 BRAC decisions, which by federal law must be completed by September 15, 2011.
